Old Business

The Club has 34 paid family memberships so far in 2023.  New members added to the roster at the July meeting included father/son Travis and Josh Reeder and Mike     Thomas, a very active local Mustang club enthusiast, and his partner Nadine Bride.
Wendell reported that the split location Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup on June 14th through the 17th went well with good turnouts for the track day and autocross at Pikes Peak International Raceway (PPIR) and positive feedback on the Friday mountain cruise from PPIR to Cripple Creek.  There were some 340 vehicles registered for the Saturday Show ‘n Shine in Cripple Creek, but Mother Nature showed up with hail and hard rain which put a damper on that event.  One big drawback for the event this year was the absence of a host hotel in Cripple Creek, but that will be addressed for next year’s RMMR with a new facility contracted to host attendees and the social and awards ceremonies.  PPIR will continue to hold the track day and autocross with the possibility they will be held together on the same day as the logistics of holding the events have become more efficient using PPIR personnel.  Long time sponsor Sill-Terhar Motors will no longer be an RMMR sponsor, but Phil Long Ford has expressed a desire to step into that role.

New Business

Gary Spencer and the Club have settled on Saturday July 15th for FRMC’s volunteer cleaning/shining of an original 1923 Rio Grande Fuel Ford Delivery Truck.  The location is 3900 Havana Street near I70 and Havana.  Food and drinks will be provided to the volunteers and Rio Grande will donate to FRMC.  The effort starts at 11am and questions should be directed to Gary at 303-437-8637.

Later in July on the 29th, Mike Thomas has planned another multi-club cruise that sounds like a great time. The plan is to leave from the Highlands Ranch Denny's near the corner of Highlands Ranch Parkway and Lucent Blvd at 8:15am and take back roads (CO105) and I25 to Colorado Springs to meet fellow Colorado Springs' Mustangers around 9:15. Then cruise up Ute Pass (Highway 24) to the town of Green Mountain Falls between Manitou Springs and Woodland Park arriving at The Pantry Restaurant for breakfast at 10am. Mike is also planning an August 19th cruise to Bergen Park/Evergreen for lunch and another Rosie’s Diner cruise on September 16th.
We also have Mike to thank for FRMC’s new Facebook page, FRMC Mustangs, that he setup shortly after the July 8th Club meeting.  Mike has already posted some additional details about these planned cruises on the Facebook page.  If you are a Facebook user, please join the new site so we can make it as successful as our former site.  Mike also has his own Facebook site, Pony Express Mustangs, where he posts lots of good info on the hobby.
The Club voted on July 8th to increase the 2024 dues to $50 as we have held constant at $30 for several years while the cost of insurance, the holiday party, and our website presence have steadily increased.
As many of you know, the Colorado Concours d'Elegance was rained out on June 4th and has been rescheduled for September 10th at Arapahoe Community College. That will be the day after John and Cam McNurney's Annual Cars & Guitars Party at their home in Lakewood. I'll be sending more out on that soon. Also, the Shelby Collection in Boulder is having their Annual Car Show & Party on September 2nd. If you've not attended before, it is an incredible time with some of the coolest cars ever being shown as well as the finest collection in one place of original 1960's Cobras, Ford GT's and Shelby Mustangs.

I was at long time member Bob Hawsey's Celebration of Life on June 10th and saw Dan and Cathy Ryhal there. We took advantage of the meet up to set a date for the Annual FRMC Chili Feed at their mountain home on October 14th.  John and Paul Revesz are still working on leading a weekday Club Cruise into the mountains via Deer Creek Canyon later this summer with Monday or Wednesday looking like the most likely options.  Last summer’s similar cruise was a great time and ended up at a nice Italian restaurant in Conifer.
Finally, the FRMC website has a posting in the Gallery section featuring some of Bob Hawsey’s Mustang Hobby memorabilia for sale.  If you find something you’d like, contact Larry Snodgrass with an offer.  Proceeds will go to Jeannie Hawsey.  Larry is also selling his 2005 Mustang Saleen S-281 which is featured in the Classifieds section of the website.

The next FRMC meeting will be Saturday, August 12th at Romano’s Italian Restaurant, 11am.

MCA Report

The Club was represented at the Mustang Enchantment MCA National Show in Albuquerque on June 9th through the 11th by cars from the Standifords, Apples, and Spencers with a Stang-in-the Shop Wendell Salas also attending.  Art and Gary’s Mustangs won Gold awards for their classes.  If someone has pictures of the presentation, I’ll get them on Facebook and the FRMC website.
